Frequently Asked Questions

Is the My Pet Memorial Diamond an authentic diamond?
Yes, the My Pet Memorial Diamond possesses the same physical, chemical and optical properties as a natural diamond. Our production facilities in Switzerland recreate the natural formation conditions of natural diamonds to grow your individual memorial diamond.
What is the price of a cremation diamond?
A .3 ct rough diamond is $2,999. The price is dependent on cut, color and size. Please refer to our price chart.
Is the size (weight) of the diamond determined by the amount of cremation remains used?
No, the size of the cremation diamond depends on how long it remains inside the high pressure high temperature processing machines. The longer it stays in the growing phase, the larger the diamond grows.
How much cremation ashes is needed for the process?
500 g cremated ashes or 10 g hair, feathers, coat
Is the element carbon still present in cremation ashes?
During cremation, most of the carbon escapes as carbon dioxide. Cremation ashes contain a carbon concentrate of 1-5%. This carbon is extracted and used as the basis for diamond synthesis.
What determines the color of the diamond?
The unique coloring of a diamond is due to the applied growing process. We create your individual memorial diamond using one of our two growing processes. The blue-white diamond option is with no additives, and is grown in a specially developed vacuum. The amount of the element boron affects the blue hue of the diamond. We do not manipulate the level of boron, and the individual coloration ranges from white or clear to a unique hue of blue. On the other hand, individual color requests can also be achieved by the inclusion of certain elements. For example, the addition of just two ppm nitrogen can create a yellow tone in the diamond. We can realize the following basic colors: yellow, red, pink, green, blue-white. The different processes leading to the respective color involve different steps and costs for us. For more details please contact us.
Can more than one diamond be produced from the same ashes?
Yes, more than one cremation diamond can be synthesized from the provided sample. We can accurately estimate the number of diamonds after a detailed analysis is performed in our laboratory.
How long do I have to wait before I receive my memorial diamond?
The diamond synthesis takes about five to eight months starting from the date the sample is received and the prepayment is made. Since creating a memorial diamond is a highly complex process, it sometimes takes a little more time. Rest assured that quality and precision are our highest priority.
Is it possible to synthesize a diamond if the deceased was cremated a long time ago?
Yes it is possible since the age of the cremation ashes is not relevant for diamond synthesis.
Do you also produce diamonds from the ashes of human beings?
Yes, please visit our partner site www.mymemorialdiamond.com.
Why do our memorial diamonds have inclusions?
Our top priority is the respectful treatment of the cremated remains in the process of cultivation of the memorial diamond. Obtaining the carbon from the cremated remains is the basis for the growth of the memorial diamond. Many steps of purification and graphitization are done between the ashes and the carbon extracted from it. Sometimes, in addition to the carbon, some very small trace elements of the cremation remains enter into the crystal lattice and appear in the diamond as inclusions. We regard this as a special proof and feature of the individual origin and the personal character of our unique memorial diamonds and not as a downside. The majority of our memorial diamonds have a quality level of SI1 or better. But we cannot guarantee a certain quality level due to the special origin of the carbon.
